Poseidon is one of the most famous Greek Gods. He was the God of the Sea along with a few other things such as storms and earthquakes. It seems he dealt with the rough stuff! So, can we expect plenty of drama to wash onto the reels of the game bearing his name?
We are about to review Rise of Poseidon for you, so you will know what to expect from the slot before you load it and give it a try. Are you ready to learn about the Greek God everyone has heard of?
Who created Rise of Poseidon?
This slot comes from Rival Gaming. It is one of the newer entries into their collection. It has a lot of great features, something it holds in common with various other recent games from this developer.
Does Rise of Poseidon include a demo version?
Yes, you can load up the practice play version that is just the same as you’d play if you wagered real bets on it. This gives you an opportunity to figure out the various elements of the game and to see if you like it enough to switch to real play.
What theme is used?
This game is based on the Greek God Poseidon, so you will see various elements relating to him. There is an octopus present, along with a turtle and a ship, and a seahorse also appears.
Game design elements
The game begins with a cut scene you can skip if you wish. However, it is short enough and it does set the scene, with a ship tackling rough waters and Poseidon himself appearing. You will then see some of the features of the game on the next page before progressing to play the game itself.
If you have tried some other modern Rival Gaming slots, you might feel a sense of familiarity when you look at the design of this game. However, it stands alone as an impressive sight, played against the backdrop of the ocean (of course).
Type of slot game
This game has five reels in play, with three icons showing up on each one. The familiar design means 15 icons will spin into view with each go. There is no progressive jackpot here; instead, the biggest prize that could be secured would be 1,250 credits if you discovered five sharks on the same paid line.
Poseidon can appear with his trusty trident as a multiplier wild. This symbol is marked as a 2x wild, doubling any prizes it assists you in finding on the reels. This is a powerful wild too, as it substitutes for everything else in the game. There is another wild feature in this game, and we will come to that shortly.
How many paylines are provided?
There are 30 lines in this game, indicated by the trident design on the left and right of the reels. You can use the ‘select lines’ option underneath the reels to choose how many of those you want to cover on each spin. We’d suggest covering them all though if you can, otherwise you could miss out on a prize.
Coin options
You can play Rise of Poseidon as a penny slot, although there are three other coin options available too, maxing out at a quarter. That doesn’t sound very high, but Rival has given us the chance to wager up to 10 coins on every line too. That means there is far more variation in the available bets than you might think.
Where is the Rise of Poseidon paytable?
If you view the game screen once it has loaded, you will see a sign for the paytable on either side of the reels. Clicking on either of these will take you through to the three pages included on that screen.
Rise of Poseidon bonus features
There are no separate bonus features in this slot game.
Could you net any free spins?
Yes, you could. The golden trident itself is the trigger to get you into this feature. You will need to find three, four, or five of them to win through to the free games. This would result in playing nine, 18, or 36 free games respectively. The round can be retriggered in the same way, so look out for more tridents to see if you can add to your total.
The free spin feature is where that second wild feature comes into play too. Poseidon can appear as an expanding wild in this part of the game. The same 2x multiplier applies, with the expanding wild popping up on reels one, two, and three. It will start off as a normal wild, only expanding if doing so would garner one or more winning combinations for you. It does increase the odds of scooping some prizes from those spins.
Rise of Poseidon RTP
Our research has revealed this slot game has a return-to-player percentage of 94.61%. This is slightly lower than some of their other games.
Our slot game rating
This is a well-designed game that will appeal to players with a love of the Greek Gods. We would have liked to see a second-screen bonus here, but other than that the game has everything you could hope to see in it. We are going to rate this as 8 out of 10.
Has anyone scooped any prizes in this game?
We’re sure they have, but we could find no headlines regarding prize winners. The lack of a progressive jackpot could have something to do with this. The top prize isn’t as big as other slots have, but there is a good range of other prizes you could win if you are fortunate as you play.
Playing for fun only
This is recommended if you haven’t seen this game before. It means you can get a feel for how it works and see whether you like it enough to switch to playing with real money. Make sure you understand all the rules before doing this.
Should you try the game with real wagers?
This is for you to decide. Check out the game first, play a few demo rounds, and then work out whether your budget would fit with this game. With just a cent per line, you could spin all the reels and cover all the lines from just 30 cents per go.
Can you try a mobile version?
This is a modern game, meaning it should be available in the mobile versions of all good Rival-powered casinos. Android phones and tablets can access the game just as iOS devices can.
